Boy am I excited!!

I have long been a fan of all the 5 Vegas Series. While perusing the internet (yes the WHOLE thing), this morning, I came across a little tid-bit. A tid-bit I will now share with you. This may not be brand new news to everyone, but it is definitely news to me.

That’s right, 5 Vegas Relic has arrived.

Here is what 5 Vegas says about it on their site:

Special cigars have the ability to reshape the industry. Enter the Relic, an exquisite Dominican puro that breaks all the rules.

5 Vegas Relic combines a bold blend of Dominican-grown tobaccos, full-bodied and full-flavored leaves grown from Habano seeds. To tame this feisty recipe, a leaf of 12-year-old Dominican Piloto has been added to the filler, and the result is nothing short of glorious.

Sit back and relax with this full-flavored explosion of rich, complex nuances. A deep series of oak, earth, and coffee coat the palate, leaving behind a lingering trace of peppery, sweet undertones. The perfecto shape optimizes these flavors, achieving an intense level of complexity with superior balance during the final half. This is not your average Dominican puro.

Those are a lot or tasty sounding words.

Cigars International is selling them now as well.
They have a few nice things to say about them.

There are no words to describe this Dominican puro.

Oh wait. There are words. Holy. Crap. This. Freaking. Cigar. Is. Outrageous.

I just hope the local cigar shop has some in stock. I don’t want to wait to smoke one. I don’t. Cigar Stats are below. I will post my first review next week if I can get my hands on one. Or two.

Wrapper: Dominican Corojo
Binder: Dominican Piloto
Filler: Dominican Piloto (’96)
Dominican Corojo
Dominican Criollo
Origin: Dominican Republic
Body: Medium – Full

  1. [...] Last Friday I talked about the release of the 5 Vegas Relic. Last Friday, I was very, very excited for the weekend, as I had intended to go to the local cigar shop, purchase said cigar, smoke it, then do some reviewing on it. Saturday almost broke my heart. [...]

One thing to keep i mind when CI reviews a 5 Vegas cigar… While not a CI exclusive brand, CI owns 5 Vegas. I’m sure they’re good cigars, but I prefer more of an unbiased review when spending $100 a box.

Wow! I was unaware that CI owned 5 Vegas. That being said, I have never smoked a bad 5 Vegas, so I am hoping (whenever I get my hands on one), it will be as good a smoke as 5 Vegas “A”. Thanks for the information.

Talk about being disappointed, I recently went to Honduras expecting to find some amazing deals on cigars. Boy was I disappointed. The area I was in peddled the Cubans more than anything else. The only legit cigar shop I found open only sold locally made no-name cigars rolled by a young kid working in the cigar shop. While the smoke was not bad, I could not purchase any as there were no bands on them and did not want experience the same traumatic event as my return from Iraq (when they took my last Rocky Patel Vintage 2nd).

Even with the Cubans, I expected to get some good pricing on them but they were some of the most expensive cigars I have seen. One shop in Mexico was offering a jar of Cohibas for 2K. A little more than I am willing to spend on cigars.

The best place I did find throughout my vacation was in Miami at a place named Cuban Crafters. They roll their own smokes there and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. Some of their smokes that did not make the cut to receive a band are sold for a buck a stick. Very friendly service and a decent selection of local brand smokes. They do not have a very good selection of the typical brands. They did not have any Rocky Patel, Gurkha, or 5 Vegas. The only big named brand they had was CAO. Regardless, if you ever find yourself in Miami, make your way over to 7th Ave and check them out.

Good to see you are back BearsFan. Hope you and yours had a great vacation.

Disappointing indeed about your cigar hunting experience.

I can’t remember where, but I have heard good things from Cuban Crafters. It may have been from DP, but like I said I cannot remember exactly. Plus, how can you beat buck-a-stick? And I do remember the ordeal from IZ. I remember those guys were jerks, they even gave me hassle about a Ghurka I had WITH THE BAND ON IT, because it didn’t say made in the USA. Silly customs!
